Damien Assignment 16

Damien walked through the plant nursery a friend of his owned. Easter was coming up and he had hoped to find lilies for his classroom. He knew he wouldn't remain undiscovered for long, the owner of the nursery always had a knack for knowing when someone had arrived. Sure enough his temporarily green tinted ears flicked at the sound of footsteps behind him, turning to greet the lemur. "Good afternoon Dakota, how are you today?" He inquired kindly, putting his hands into the front pouch on his sweater.

Dakota nodded quitely, giving the cat a brief smile. "I'm well, thanks. Searching for a new flower for Shasta?" he inquired curiously, well aware that the selkie was quite fond of terrestrial plants.

Damien shook his head. "Not entirely. I'm looking for Easter Lilies. I had hoped you'd have some in for the holidays. Though...I'm sure Shasta will want to keep them after." He mused off-hand, an affectionate smile appearing at the thought of the shy but curious seal.

Dakota's ears flicked and smiled lightly. "You're in luck, I just got a fresh shipment in today. This way I'll show you." And with that he led Damien to the lilies and helped him with, soil, a pot and pottery paints. The albino paid Dakota and with a kind farewell, he was off to his apartment. Damien peeked into his bedroom, seeing Shasta taking an afternoon nap and decided to paint the pot first. While the paint dried he looked up the proper care for lilies and then, like clockwork, Shasta shuffled outside.

The seal looked around sleepily then noticed the soil, flowers and freshly painted pot, a wide smile growing on his lips. "Damien, are we gonna plant more flowers?" He tilted his head and smiled more, his tone hopeful.

Damien nodded. "Yup. You can't keep these just yet though, I want to take them to class for Easter first. But you can help me put them in this pot okay?"

Shasta nodded and instantly dropped to his knees, getting into the soil with Damien and tenderly putting the frail flowers in their new home. "Why lilies for Easter?" He inquired as Damien finished setting the dirt in.

Damien thought about this a moment. "Well...some religions see the white lily as a symbol of purity and new life...which is what Easter is about to them. Though, most people just like to hunt for colorful eggs that have candy inside. Those games are fun."

Shasta tilted his head. "How does candy grow inside an egg?"

Damien blinked and looked up at shasta before laughing. "Tell you what, I'll make these eggs for you and with Blithe's permission, I'll have Kei hide the eggs in their garden and we'll hunt them down, okay?"

Shasta nodded eagerly. "Okay!"

Yeah Shasta doesn't understand the concept of plastic eggs yet, but he will and I have a feeling he's going to enjoy it greatly, since Blithe's garden is MASSIVE. I'm sure Blithe won't mind as long as they don't destroy his plants or kill the koi. Anyway, enjoy!
