Chapter 24

Finally, the day had come. Six months of planning were about to pay off as Wire stepped into her wedding dress. Amy, who had helped pick out her dress smiled and helped lace her up in the back. "Oh Wire you look so beautiful! Unknown won't know what to say!" She giggled, pulling the strings snugly across Wire's skin. "How do you feel?"

Wire smiled as she smoothed down the fabric. She had chosen a strapless dress with a moderate length train in the back and a slit on the side that reached mid-thigh. There was very little volume to the dress itself so it fit snugly around her curves, showing off her hard-earned, thin waistline. "I'm so nervous…I've waited for this day all my life, I'm marrying the man of my dreams but…what if he looks at my scars and decides that he'd rather have a prettier girl?" Wire frowned slightly.

Amy smiled. "How could he say no to you? You're so beautiful Wire. You've just got pre-wedding jitters, that's all."

"Yeah, you're probably right." She said as she pulled the last curler out of her hair and started pinning it back with bobby pins topped with small white lilies. Some of her red hair fell down in waves over her shoulders and back while a few bangs swept to the side. The rest of her hair was pulled up in messy ringlets, dotted with the white lily bobby pins.  Then, the blue gecko pulled a matching lily necklace with a thin chain around her neck, making sure it was centered properly. "How does that look?"

"Oh you're like a vision!" Amy giggled as she dabbed light makeup on Wire. "He'd be a fool to say no to this. Now lets get you in your shoes."

On the other end of the venue, Unknown was getting into his tux. As he straightened his tie, he thought of his past life. Sitting next to the black chameleon was his best man, a purple chameleon named Adonis. Adonis held out Unknown's cuff links. "You sure you want to go through with this? If you get married, you won't be able to date multiple girls."

Unknown smiled and fitted the cuff links onto his sleeves. "Hell yeah. There won't ever be another girl like Wire.  She's all I'll ever need and I know this is what she's always wanted."
Adonis grinned slightly and put a freshly trimmed rose into Unknown's jacket's pocket. "You're going to make her the happiest girl on the planet, no doubt about that. You ready for this?"

Unknown took one last look at his reflection in the mirror and nodded. "I'm ready." He smiled and walked out to await his bride. As the music softly played through the lush tropical garden, the ceremony began. Unknown shifted slightly in anticipation as the flower girls, then the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle. Finally, the music changed and Wire stepped onto the soft red carpet, being escorted by Tails.

All doubt washed away from Unknown's mind as he saw Wire. He started smiling, seeing the light blush under her veil. After what felt like an eternity, Tails handed Wire to Unknown and the ceremony began.

Wire couldn't believe it as she was carried into their hotel room for the night. She looked again at the wedding band on her finger and started laughing. 'I'm married! I'm married to Unknown!' she thought giddily as Unknown smiled and kissed her cheek. "You are so beautiful, Mrs. Silvertongue." He said gently.

Wire giggled and hugged him close. "This is the best day of my life!" She laughed and kissed him again.  

Unknown smiled more and pulled her onto his lap. "I love you so much, Wire. You've made me so happy."

Wire nuzzled against his chest and smiled. "You've always made me happy. I love you more than anything." She said softly, stroking his muzzle. The newly married couple didn't do much at first; they were both slightly nervous so they kept the mood light by reminiscing together about their life. Slowly, their nervousness washed away and their conversation began to lessen as they cuddled together and relaxed. The next morning, Unknown and Wire packed their bags and headed to the train station for their honeymoon in the tropics.

Life went on much the same way as it had before their wedding. Unknown would go on his missions with Lyra and Wire would provide him with the devices that kept them safe. As the months wore on, Wire began to think of what it would be like to have a kid. She knew without a doubt that she wanted one with her new husband, but concerns about their lifestyle began to wear on her.

One day, after Unknown had come home from another successful mission, he noticed that Wire's demeanor had changed slightly. He smiled a bit and pulled her close to his chest, nuzzling her. "What's wrong?" He asked, stroking her hair.

Wire sighed a bit and looked up at him. "I've been thinking about parenthood. I know it's a bit close to our marriage and that most couples wait a year or two but I would love to have your child."

"Having a baby does sound nice, but that's not what's bothering you." Unknown said as he smiled gently at her.

"Well it's just…would having a baby be a responsible thing? I mean, you're always away on missions, which means you wouldn't have a lot of time with our baby and I'll be raising it basically by myself…"she trailed off quietly, frowning a little at the thought.

Unknown smiled more and lifted her chin with one finger. "Babe, if we had a baby, I'd make sure I had plenty of time between missions to take care of both of you. If you want to have a baby, then I'm all for it. You and I are very smart; we'll find a way to make it work. That's a promise." He said, kissing her gently.

Wire brightened and smiled happily. "You're the best husband a girl could ask for!" She exclaimed happily, pulling him into a tight hug.

Unknown laughed quietly and held her close, stroking her back. "I know."
